Sona is available as an add-on for all OpenPhone plans with a 7-day free trial including unlimited calls.

Subscription pricing

Base subscription cost

Monthly pricing:
  • $49/month base subscription
  • 50 calls included in monthly allocation
  • $0.99 per additional call beyond allocation
  • Prices exclude applicable taxes
Call allocation details:
  • Monthly call allocation resets at each billing cycle
  • Unused calls do not roll over to next month
  • Calls under 15 seconds don’t count toward usage
  • Filters out spam calls and quick hang-ups

Eligibility requirements

To purchase Sona:
  • Must be on paid OpenPhone plan (not free trial)
  • Must use online payments (not Apple subscription)
  • Must have workspace Admin or Owner permissions
  • Available for Starter, Business, and Scale plans
If you currently have an Apple subscription, switch to online payments to add Sona.

Billing cycles and charges

Billing synchronization

Billing cycle alignment:
  • Sona follows your OpenPhone billing cycle
  • Monthly OpenPhone = monthly Sona billing
  • Annual OpenPhone = annual Sona billing

Proration and charges

Initial subscription:
  • Prorated charge for remaining time in current cycle
  • Monthly subscriptions: charged for remaining days until renewal
  • Annual subscriptions: charged for remaining days until renewal
Overage billing:
  • Calls beyond 50-call allocation billed at $0.99 each
  • Overage charges always billed monthly
  • Applies even with annual OpenPhone subscriptions
  • No service interruption when exceeding allocation

Usage monitoring

Tracking call usage

Monitoring your usage:
  1. Go to SettingsPlan & Billing
  2. Locate Sona section
  3. View current billing period call count
  4. Monitor usage against 50-call allocation
What counts as a call:
  • Each time Sona answers = 1 call
  • Call duration doesn’t affect billing
  • Calls under 15 seconds excluded
  • Provides value compared to missed calls or answering services

Managing your subscription

Canceling Sona

To remove Sona add-on:
  1. Go to SettingsPlan & Billing
  2. Locate Sona section
  3. Click three-dot menu
  4. Select Remove Sona
What happens when you cancel:
  • Sona immediately stops handling calls
  • All Sona steps automatically replaced with voicemail
  • No missed calls during transition
  • Credit applied for unused billing period
  • Can re-add Sona anytime
