How do reactions work?

Like the Messages app on any Apple device, you can also react to any message in OpenPhone.

In OpenPhone you can send reactions to SMS, MMS messages, voicemail messages, and calls to your contacts. You can also leave reactions internally to team direct messages and threads.

Whether you want to react with a 👍 to a teammate or say thanks 🙏, here's how to send reactions.

How to send a reaction on the desktop or web app

1. Hover your cursor over the message you'd like to add a reaction to. A pop up message will appear where you can select an emoji. Not seeing the emoji you want? Click the "Choose another emoji" icon for more options.

2. Select the emoji you have in mind.

What your contacts see when you leave a reaction

Let's say an OpenPhone contact sends you a GIF and you react with a 🙌.

Your recipient will get a message sharing your reaction (provided their number has texting capabilities). If your recipient uses the Messages app on an iPhone, it will look like this:

Like any SMS or MMS message, your recipient will receive a notification when you react to a message. Let's say you accidentally react to a message and you click the emoji to try to undo leaving it. Your recipient will still get a notification so depending on the specific situation, you may need to send a follow-up text.

What your teammate sees when you leave a reaction

When you react to a teammate's message, they will see a notification under "Activity" in OpenPhone.
