I'm not receiving verification codes on OpenPhone

Some subscribers have encountered issues receiving a verification code to their OpenPhone numbers from a service they've joined. Many popular services that use 2-factor authentication (2FA) don't allow any virtual phone numbers to be used during the registration/verification step. Examples include Facebook, Uber, Airbnb, PayPal, Google, WhatsApp, and banks.

Why do some services not allow for verification through virtual phone numbers?

Virtual numbers are much easier to get and work on multiple devices, therefore, making them less desirable for authentication purposes.

What does this mean?

For services listed above and possibly others, you won't be able to sign up for an account using an OpenPhone number for verification.

What do I do?

For these types of services, we recommend using your personal phone number for new account creation and OpenPhone for all other purposes as you see fit!
