How to record your calls

Recording calls on OpenPhone requires just a click of a button!

It's important to note that 14 US states legally require the consent of both parties on a recorded call. Making a habit of getting consent from the person on the call to record the conversation will ensure that you stay on the right side of the law. Getting consent gives the person on the call an opportunity to opt out of having the conversation recorded. Learn more about how to legally record phone calls on our blog!

How to record calls on Desktop/Web or on Mobile

1. Each time you make or receive a call, the call menu pops up on your screen. It defaults to the bottom right-hand side of your screen, however, you can move this where you prefer.

2. To record a call in progress, press the record button ⏺️ on the call menu.

How to access call recordings

To view call recordings associated with a conversation, do the following:

  1. Click on the conversation thread. A recorded call is indicated by a speech bubble with "call" on it.
  2. Choose to playback or download individual recordings. NOTE: Downloading call recordings is currently only available on the web, desktop, and android apps.
